Heritage Center of Freeport

A charming volunteer-run local history museum housed at the corner of SR 20 and Kylea Laird Road, preserving Freeport’s nearly 200-year history. Exhibits and archival images trace the town from its origins as ‘Genoa’ through its days as ‘Four Mile Landing’ to the present, covering lumber mills, fishing boats, steamboats, cargo vessels, and the development of Eglin Air Force Base. Open based on volunteer staffing — a true small-town gem.
