Fort Pickens

A well-preserved Civil War-era fort built in 1834 on the western tip of Santa Rosa Island. Famous as the site where Apache chief Geronimo was held prisoner, the fort offers fascinating history, scenic Gulf views, a fishing pier, beaches, and access to Gulf Islands National Seashore.
