Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival (Historic)

For 43 years (1977–2019), the Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival was Niceville’s most iconic event and one of Florida’s largest outdoor festivals, drawing over 40,000 visitors each October weekend. Named for the local mullet fish, the festival featured fried mullet, carnival rides, live country music, and arts and crafts. Niceville’s official motto remains ‘Home of the Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival,’ and efforts to revive the event are ongoing.
